How we protect your data across EXTYE products and the Winland desktop application.

Summary: Winland is built privacy-first. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. All processing, preferences, and widgets operate 100% locally on your personal computer.

01. Overview & Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the software applications and services provided by EXTYE ("we", "our", or "us"), including the Winland desktop application published on the Microsoft Store.

We believe in minimal data requirements: our desktop utilities are engineered to run completely standalone and offline without requiring cloud accounts or background data telemetry.

02. Information We Do Not Collect

Winland operates with zero external tracking:

  • No Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, device IDs, or hardware identifiers.
  • No Telemetry or Analytics: We do not embed telemetry trackers, diagnostic reporting SDKs, or session analytics.
  • No Commercial Data Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or monetize your information in any form.

03. Local System Permissions & Features

To deliver Dynamic Island widgets on your Windows desktop, Winland uses standard local Windows APIs with strict read-only, real-time scopes:

  • Media Transport Controls (GSMTC): Reads current media session metadata (such as playing track title, artist name, and album artwork) in real time to display the media playback pill. This information is processed in memory and never logged or sent across the network.
  • Windows Desktop Notifications: Listens for incoming system toasts to briefly preview notifications in the top pill. Notification text is held in memory only for the duration of the toast preview.
  • System Power & Battery Status: Queries local AC power connectivity and battery percentages to display the charger connect toast.
  • Display Topology & DPI Metrics: Reads monitor dimensions to keep the island horizontally centered when switching between multi-monitor and different DPI setups.

04. Local Data Storage

Your customized preferences (such as island theme, compact width, pinned app launcher shortcuts, and scale factor) are saved locally on your machine in:

%AppData%\WinDynamicIsland\settings.cfg

These configuration files reside exclusively on your local storage drive and never leave your device.

05. Third-Party Services

Winland does not include third-party advertising networks, analytics providers, or behavioral trackers. When downloading Winland through the Microsoft Store, your transaction and download are governed by Microsoft's Store Privacy Policy.

06. Children's Privacy

Our software does not collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
